Karen Akridge is
passionate about
encouraging and
counseling
adolescents,
individuals and
families who are
seeking healing and
growth in
relational,
emotional, and
spiritual issues.
Karen is currently seeking her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy
at Psychological
Studies Institute in
Atlanta, GA. She is
working toward
licensure as a
Professional
Counselor and
Marriage & Family
Therapist with a
specialization in
adolescents.
Her
passion is to be a
role model for
today’s youth, and
to equip and empower
them to cope with
and improve the
world around them.
She does this
through
encouragement,
unconditional
support, a listening
ear, and guidance.
Karen believes in
the importance of
authentic care for
people and in the
power of faith and
healthy
relationships to
bring healing.
Karen has a
Bachelor of Science
degree from Berry
College in
Experiential
Education and her
work experience
includes Young Life
outreach youth
ministry as well as
volunteering with
the senior high
youth at her
church. Karen has
also worked
extensively within
the outdoor camping
industry in the US,
Canada, and
Australia.
Her
outdoor education
experiences include
many ACA accredited
programs, including
the YMCA. She had
been responsible for
organizing and
implementing
retreats, summer
camps, high
adventure programs
and community events
for people of all
ages. Karen has
also led middle and
high school students
on extended
adventure based
trips in the
outdoors. It is
through these
experiences that
Karen has helped
teens to learn to
trust others and to
believe in
themselves.
Adolescents learn
the importance of
team work, respect,
honesty and
responsibility and
are given new
courage to face the
obstacles before
them in school and
at home.
